I started my accounting journey at PwC as an auditor. After 15 years of experience, I can tell you that there were 6 main advantages to getting into auditing:

Effect of professional skepticism:
Because the audit is always based on the search for support and evidence, your mind adapts to it. Ultimately, your work will be evidence-based, making you much more credible among your peers.

Varied clientele:
Work with a variety of clients from different industries such as manufacturing and services. Which will expose you to all the accounting problems that arise.

Don't accept any BS from listeners:
You will learn how an audit is conducted from the inside. So ultimately, when you're sitting on the other side of the table, you'll know how to negotiate with listeners.

Higher Salary History:
You will start your salary history at a higher level. Because there are generally more auditors than those in the private sector.

Get your CPA chops:
You will gain the experience necessary to obtain your CPA license, which is the gold standard for the accounting profession.
