This video will explain how to get started in space research (like astrophysics or astronomy) and some current research.

For those looking for space-related majors, your best options are astronomy and astrophysics. However, as an undergraduate, you will typically start with a physics major and then choose a more specific discipline in graduate school.

You will also need to obtain a doctorate if you want to work in astrophysics or astronomy. There really aren't any jobs in these fields for those with only a bachelor's degree.

Although the field is very competitive, if you have a real interest in the subject, most people will tell you to pursue it. Even if you don't land the job you want, astrophysicists and astronomers can find work in other fields such as finance, engineering, software development, teaching, and more.
