In 2018, she joined the School of Engineering at Macquarie University as a lecturer and group leader. Her research lies at the intersection of science, technology and engineering, as she focuses on early detection of disease using a single puff of human breath. A wide range of diseases such as diabetes, different types of cancer, liver and kidney failure can all be detected from our breathing alone. In the same way that a police officer can detect if you are drunk with a breathalyzer, it is possible – in the very near future – that we can detect diseases with a simple, non-invasive and quick breathalyzer.
