Staying organized is often cited as the hardest thing when it comes to genetic genealogy. Here are three tips to help you keep it all together. 1. Keep a research journal. It doesn't have to be elaborate. Simply keep track of which matches you wrote notes for, which matches you used shared matches for, and which matches you created trees for. 2. I love that TWO companies are now coming forward to help us label our matches (Ancestry and MyHeritage), it makes a world of difference! 3. When you can't find a shared last name, the shared location is often the key to knowing which matches to focus on. But if you don't know where all those little towns are in the border states, you might miss something if you don't map it out!
