We've rounded up four of the best small cars money can buy, and Mat is about to find out which one is right for you!

It must be said that these four cars are all quite recognizable. We have the famous VW Golf, the Ford Focus, the Vauxhall (Opel) Astra and the Honda Civic. The question is which of the four stands out the most in a crowded small car market.

For example, in terms of price, all four models are on par. Entry-level versions of each car start at around £25,000 for the Golf and Astra, and rise to £27,000 and £29,000 for the Focus and Civic respectively. What's more, all the cars featured here (except the Civic) come with a range of engine and trim options.
