Learn how Matthew Edwards, director of football analytics at the University of Virginia, is using data science to improve the UVA football program.

Matthew Edwards is currently a UVA Master of Science student in Data Science. Edwards came to Virginia after a two-year stint as an assistant coach at Southern Virginia. He served as recruiting coordinator, coaching the offensive line in 2015 and the wide receivers in 2016. Edwards graduated from Brigham Young in 2011 with a BS in mathematics and earned a master's degree in public administration in 2013. He was a tight end for the BYU football. team, lettering in 2010 and 2011.
