I highly recommend enabling this feature on Android if you are using a screen protector.

The global smartphone screen protector market is estimated to be a multi-billion dollar industry. According to some reports, $51.38 billion worth of screen protectors were sold in 2022.

For many people, simply applying the screen protector and going about their business is enough. But I know that many people have noticed that the touch sensitivity of their screen has decreased since applying a screen protector to their smartphone.

And there are others who completely refuse to use a screen protector because of the decreased sensitivity of touch input.

Today I want to introduce you to a feature built into Android that will allow you to increase the touch sensitivity of your screen. In the hopes of bringing it back to the level of performance you're used to when you're not using it at all.

This feature is buried in the Settings app in different locations… and sometimes the feature is labeled differently… depending on your phone manufacturer and the firmware you're currently using.

Google Pixel touch sensitivity
I have the Google Pixel 8 and we can find this feature by first opening the Settings app.
Scroll down so you can tap the Display & Touch menu.
And then, towards the bottom, you should see a feature called Touch Sensitivity.
Press it
Then, enable the feature by tapping the toggle button here.

Now if you are using a Samsung Galaxy device, I have the Galaxy S23 here
And we can find this feature by launching the Settings app.
Scroll down until you find the View menu.
Then scroll down again.
You should then see a button for touch sensitivity
And we can enable the feature from here without needing to access another menu.

xiaomi hyperos touch sensitivity
If you own a Xiaomi device, whether it uses MIUI or HyperOS firmware, as is my case here with the Redmi Note 13 Pro
So, unfortunately, you might be out of luck.
This touch sensitivity feature is nowhere to be found in the Display section of the Settings app
And searching for the word sensitivity only brings up a recommendation for the Accessibility menu.

But there is no touch sensitivity feature here.
At least, not one that I could find.

I did some research to try to find if there was another way to enable this feature on Xiaomi devices and I had no luck in that regard either.

Some forums recommend dialing the code ##64663##
then perform a touch calibration test while the screen protector is installed

while another recommends you dive into the Language & Input section of the Settings app
and then look for the feature called pointer speed

However, this testing and adjusting this setting did not resolve the issue for everyone.
So I recommend you to try it if you are facing this issue with HyperOS devices.
But I don't think it will really change anything.

I don't know if this feature was just removed because some of their phones don't have the proper hardware.
Or if Xiaomi just removed the functionality from the software entirely.

There seem to be a few apps in the Google Play Store that claim to offer this type of functionality.
But almost all of them seem to be dubious cleaning apps
Or apps promising improved performance while gaming

Which also seems quite fishy to me.

If you own a Xiaomi device with MIUI or HyperOS installed and know where the touch sensitivity feature is hidden, share those details in the comments section below.
