Dr. Maté generously shares his deep understanding of childhood trauma, vulnerability, grief, and emotional distress. He explains what real trauma is and how time does not necessarily lead to healing, how vulnerability is ingrained in us since we were young and the importance of these formative years in shaping our emotional health and expectations societal issues that we always try to respond to, but have never really brought us true fulfillment. We also exchange thoughts on dealing with grief, how we struggle to identify with people we admire, and how the experience of childhood varies for each child, even when raised in a similar environment.
Trauma is an injury that is not completely healed and can be triggered at any time in our lives. It is therefore important that we are able to find common ground and stand firm in what can bring us healing, emotional stability and happiness.
