This talk was given at a local TEDx event, produced independently of the TED conferences. Emily has worked in hip-hop education and taught an after-school media arts program focused on digital storytelling, where students have the opportunity to tell stories using photography, video, music, and voices to tell stories in new and engaging ways.

Emily Bailin currently holds a Ph.D. candidate in the Education and Communication Program at Teachers College, Columbia University, New York. She has a background in media education, working with teachers on how to bring more popular culture and technology into the classroom, and working with young people on how to think about and create media critically. Most recently, Emily worked in hip-hop education and taught an after-school media arts program focused on digital storytelling, where students have the opportunity to tell stories using photographs, videos, music and voice to tell stories in new and engaging ways.
