NASA space telescopes have detected the brightest explosion ever recorded.

Astronomers believe the bright burst came from the collapse of a dying star and the formation of a new black hole. The explosion occurred 1.9 billion years ago and finally swept across our planet on October 9, 2022.

The gamma rays trigger detectors on three orbiting telescopes, the Fermi Gamma-ray Space Telescope, the Neil Gehrels Swift Observatory, and the Wind spacecraft.

This is the brightest and most powerful event ever detected.

Researchers will continue to take more measurements as gamma rays continue to flood the Earth.
