Hear experts explore the challenges of finding cost savings, including:

Audiogram A: Outsourced medical services represent a great opportunity for hospitals to save money. The challenge lies in the complexity of contracts, including joint venture agreements. It’s not possible to find cost-saving opportunities simply by looking at the deal. This requires in-depth analysis of multiple spending areas.

Audiogram B: Accurate analysis of outsourced medical services requires in-depth expertise of both the services and their components to understand where the money is coming from and where it is flowing. This understanding does not come from a linear analysis.

Audiogram C: Do not expect a one-time purchased services contract. You should analyze each site's custom service requirements, as well as your P&L, to avoid charging additional costs to direct expenses. In categories like food services and electric vehicles, there is no way to achieve competitive pricing with a one-size-fits-all approach.

Audiogram D: We tell all our customers to regularly review their purchased service contracts, not to wait for the contract renewal period. In 95% of cases, when we perform a line item analysis of invoices for purchased services, we discover problems. Finding pricing errors mid-stream is extremely common.

Audiogram E: Cost analysis of purchased services is not for the faint of heart. It's hard, roll-up-your-sleeves work that requires in-depth analysis of line-item invoices. Dollar for dollar, your providers will typically bill their GPO fees directly to your hospital. Ask yourself: are you getting the best price or is this really a false sense of security?
