If you or someone you know is facing a difficult situation and could use additional support, consider speaking with one of BetterHelp's 10,000 approved online counselors.

Grief is associated with death, but we can mourn many things. If you're going through a breakup, you're mourning the end of that relationship. Grief means loss, and whatever you lose, you mourn. Grief is not linear and it takes time to go through the grieving process. Everyone has their own way of grieving, and there is no right way to grieve. There is no time limit on grieving, and if you force yourself to stop grieving prematurely, you won't be able to deal with the loss. Give yourself the opportunity to work through your grief in the way that is best for you.

Sometimes it's hard to let go. If you lose a parent, it can be difficult to let them go because they were important to you. The grieving process can take a long time and a person becomes stuck. When you are having difficulty grieving, you may want to consider talking to a mental health professional. An online counselor is a great option for talking about your loss.
