The Carbon Mineralization Lab, CarbMinLab for short, is a multidisciplinary group of scientists and engineers who want to combat climate change. The world must transition to renewable energy and electrify its transportation and energy networks. Mining of critical metals will increase significantly. At the same time, the world needs more ways to capture and store atmospheric carbon. Carbon mineralization in mine tailings can both decarbonize the metals supply chain and unlock enormous carbon sequestration potential. Their laboratory works with mining partners to study carbon mineralization processes in mine tailings, striving to scale technologies from the laboratory scale to the mine scale.
