Choose your settings for night photos ️

Use the 500 rule to ensure your stars won't be streaky. This means you will divide 500 by your focal length. For example, 500/25mm 20 seconds. This will help you calculate which shutter speed to use.

Next, lower your aperture as low as possible. Hopefully you will have a lens that opens at least up to f2.8. If you have one of those f1.2 or f1.4 lenses, go ahead and leave the aperture at f1.8 for sharpness purposes.

Next, try ISO 6400. Examine your photo and if it's too dark, increase the ISO. If it's too bright, lower the ISO.

Good luck out there!
