Although all living things have much in common, different organisms can have very different reactions to the same organic chemicals. This means that it is very important for organic chemists to be able to purify chemicals and separate the desired products from unnecessary side-product reactions. In this episode of Crash Course Organic Chemistry, we head into the lab to learn one of the ways we can separate chemicals in a mixture: chromatography!
