Substance use disorders are a public health crisis, and its devastating effects have only worsened during the COVID-19 pandemic. Only 1 in 10 people who need treatment for a substance use disorder receive it, said Sandeep Kapoor, MD, assistant vice president of addiction services for Northwell Health Emergency Medicine Services. . It explains how to recognize the signs and help someone living with addiction.
