As the global energy problem grows, energy companies around the world are resorting to time-of-use pricing. The project aims to develop a smart home energy management system (HEMS) that helps consumers manage their loads based on the time-of-use tariff system and, therefore, helps reduce the costs incurred. RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) is the method chosen to identify devices connected to the home, and this information is displayed on a mobile application. When energy consumption rates are high during particular periods of the day, the smart HEMS informs the user via the mobile application of the energy consumed during the higher tariff periods and the corresponding cost incurred.
