Wolfgang Wagner is the head of the Department of Geodesy and Geoinformation at TU Wien. His research has allowed him to work at the German Aerospace Agency, NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center and the European Commission's Joint Research Center. He is co-founder and scientific director of the Earth Observation Data Center for Water Resources Monitoring (EODC) at TU Wien.

Wagner has always lived the culture of sharing knowledge and research data. Ultimately, this mindset contributed significantly to his success in geosciences. His research focuses on working with satellite data to study the evolution of the Earth. This has led to several free and open data services.

Wolfgang Wagner explains how sharing data, software and hardware will advance the science of Earth observation and its applications.
