Jo has a deep-rooted passion for identifying alternative approaches to healing from trauma and addiction. While his own struggle with addiction was certainly the catalyst that allowed him to identify non-traditional treatment approaches, it was his personal experience with recovery that truly cultivated a desire to help others on their journey to recovery. As a Program Specialist at the University of Nevada, Reno, Jo's primary role is to develop and implement drug and alcohol prevention programs on campus. Additionally, she has taught an Addiction Overview course for the past several years for the Center for Addiction Technology Application. Jo is currently pursuing her doctorate in educational leadership and has her master's degree in human development and family studies with a specialization in substance abuse treatment and prevention services.
