This piece had to go through several processes.
The process of repairing the tear involved first relining the canvas. The missing sections were filled with animal glue and gesso.
Once the tear in the canvas was repaired, the art restorer cleaned the surface of the painting of household dirt and old varnish.
Then the art restorer repaired the missing section by painting the inside of the section.
The piece was completed by reapplying varnish.
