Course 2 of the course /"Introduction to Quantum Optics/" that I taught in the spring 2020 term at Shanghai Jiao Tong University. In this talk, we review another basic aspect of quantum mechanics (composite systems and entanglement) and quantify the electromagnetic field as a set of harmonic oscillators, for which we introduce classical and quantum descriptions.

The entire video course consists of 16 parts (2.5 hours each) and covers the essentials of the topic, including the quantum theory of the electromagnetic field and atoms, their basic interactions and the theory of optical systems open quantum. Here is the course playlist: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?listPLQOPozM-bhZrWIyxwD_sMe9Q0HvwMzJNS

The course is self-contained and follows my own detailed notes (feedback is welcome as it is due to appear in book form in 2020/2021). All course materials, including these videos, blackboards and worksheets, can be downloaded from:

Solutions to the exercises can be provided upon request, just send me an email. Also feel free to ask any questions on the topic, I will do my best to answer them, time permitting.

Disclaimer: Keep in mind that this is my first time teaching online (due to COVID19), so it took me some time to adjust and feel comfortable speaking to an instructor, rather than real students. However, I decided to share the lessons, because I received a few requests from students around the world who do not have access to this subject in their universities. I hope they are useful!
