In this video I discuss two examples of deriving equations of motion from the Lagrangian and/or variation of action. The first is to take the Lagrangian of a charged particle and use the Euler Lagrange equation to find the equation of motion which turns out to be the Lorentz force. The second example is to vary an action which is the path length of a curve in a manifold with a metric. This gives rise to geodesic equations.
