Quantum computing is a type of computing in which data is processed using quantum bits, also called qubits, instead of classical bits. This allows quantum computers to perform certain calculations much faster than classical computers, especially for tasks requiring the simultaneous processing of a large amount of data.

In a classical computer, a bit is either a 0 or a 1. In a quantum computer, a qubit can be a 0, a 1, or both, representing a concept called superposition. Another fundamental principle of quantum computing is entanglement, which allows qubits to be connected in such a way that the state of one qubit depends on the state of the others.

By exploiting these unique quantum properties, quantum computers can perform complex calculations much faster than classical computers, making them potentially useful for applications such as cryptography, drug discovery and financial modeling.
