The step by step derivation and concept regarding the equation of electromagnetic (EM) waves in the conducting medium has been presented in this lecture. The physics behind the attenuation of EM waves with skin depth has been detailed. The idea and concept behind the phase shift between electric and magnetic field has been presented in a very simple manner. The application of the EM diffusion equation in the conducting medium was given in the form of a magnetotelluric (MT) electromagnetic study. A must-have for physicists and geophysicists.
