Whitney McCrary received her BFA from Savannah College of Art and Design in 2005 before continuing her studies at the Academy of Classical Design in North Carolina. The academy is an intensive program of drawing, painting and murals inspired by 19th-century French academies and influenced by Renaissance humanist philosophy. She later became an instructor at the academy, studied in Paris as an art assistant, and studied with classically trained artists throughout the United States. His work is inspired by the quality and ideals of past masters, historical methods and materials, with an emphasis on aesthetics and imagination.

Whitney is a professor at the Alberta College of Art and Design in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. She teaches credit courses to graduate students as well as a number of continuing education courses, including classical drawing techniques and perspective drawing.
