Nuclear fission and fusion are two much-discussed and extremely energetic nuclear reactions.
In fission, a very large nucleus decays into relatively smaller daughter nuclei while releasing enormous amounts of energy in the process.
In Fusion, small nuclei fuse together to create relatively larger nuclei, while releasing energy in the process.

In this video I explain why these reactions occur using the binding energy curve.
