Thomas Ihde talks about the uncomfortable side of mental health, stigma and how we can change that by putting ourselves in someone else's shoes. Thomas grew up in the Swiss countryside and always loved exploring new territories. So he trained as a psychiatrist in the United States, worked as one in Alaska, and loves spending time in the Rub-al-Khali desert in southern Oman and teaching mindfulness there. As medical director of an Alpine region and president of Pro Mente Sana, the national mental health charity in Switzerland, he strives to improve acceptance and inclusion of people with a health problem mental. It particularly focuses on the obstacles to this process. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community.
