A lecture by Jeffrey Boloten, course manager for the Art & Business program at Sotheby's Institute, at the Garage during the public program of the exhibition Bidding for Glasnost: Sothebys 1988 Auction in Moscow.

After an overview of contemporary art markets, Boloten spoke about the growing role of auction houses in setting prices and highlighted new trends in their development, including their growing online presence and collaborations with brands luxury.

Jeffrey Boloten (born 1959) is Course Leader of the Art & Business program at Sotheby's Institute of Art (London), co-founder and Managing Director of ArtInsight Ltd., the educational partner of the market research company ArtTactic art. Boloten has held senior positions at leading international publishers, including Penguin Books. After earning a master's degree in arts management, he focused on developing art markets and has since worked at the Tate and an art school in London.
