The 4th signature of superconductivity has been directly observed. The four signatures are zero resistance, the Meisner effect, an increase in specific heat, and the grouping of electrons to form copper pairs. Measuring this latest signature of superconductivity constitutes a great achievement for physics and condensed matter science in general. This may be the springboard we need to deepen our understanding of high-temperature superconductors.
