Shortly after the first quarter phase, on December 12, 2021, there are many prominent craters along the terminator (line between night and day on the Moon). The largest such crater visible near the bottom is Clavius, which contains a number of smaller craters, giving it a rough interior texture.

Real-time video taken from northern Vulcan County with an iPhone 11Pro through the eyepiece of an 8-inch-diameter Newtonian telescope mounted on a fixed mount. The left-to-right movement of the Moon in this video represents the rotation of the Earth.
