Create a culture of engagement and learn to find the sweet spot of engagement – Engagement is all about FEELINGS! As Carl Buechner said: people will forget what you say; they will forget what you do – but they will never forget how you made them feel.

Engagement is the measure of the team's emotional commitment to its leader and is critically important to results.

In America, disengagement costs businesses more than $350 billion a year and in Australia $45 billion!

Gallup studies show that only 30% of people are actively engaged despite all the focus on engagement.

Do you really know how engaged your employees are?
In the engagement surveys I conduct, the average company has about 50% engaged AND disengaged in total. This is a first big opportunity for leaders! –
The other 50% – sitting on the fence, waiting for a leader to engage them… I call these /"Sweet Spot/" leaders.

An actively engaged team member is approximately 30% more productive than a regular team member and retention is significantly improved. It is therefore essential that leaders work on this sweet spot.

The second opportunity for a leader is to have disengaged people – or “bad apples” – target them as well – help them adjust their attitudes or help them find another job!
Great leaders have emotional intelligence – but to truly drive results and be exceptional – leaders need what I call EQ2 – Engagement Intelligence.
EQ2 involves truly understanding your people, finding their individual motivations and working on those “hot buttons” to improve morale, attitude and results.

In my book /"The People Pill/" and in my engagement presentations, we cover many strategies that a leader can implement immediately – they cost virtually nothing and are guaranteed to make people feel good about themselves. skin – which is the real secret to getting the most out of it. people and involve them.
Some of these strategies include….
– Five-minute office chats…it's a way to show people you care…/"Mary, what's for the weekend/"
– Sending personalized handwritten cards that recognize specific contributions, are timely and come from the heart
– Morning teas to celebrate progress and successes
– Organize a breakfast of champions to recognize efforts
– Imagine people have a banner on their forehead / "Make Me Feel Special /"
Remember that people generally leave leaders not organizations and it is the line leader's responsibility for attitude and commitment!
I recommend measuring your team's engagement and implementing strategies like the ones above – focus on that sweet spot to get everyone involved and create a culture of engagement.

This will really change your bottom line and retain – and attract – the best employees!
