Shortly after the September 2021 Harvest Moon, enough shadow detail is visible on the eastern limb of our nearest celestial neighbor to highlight the topography. The large black circle just above the center line near the terminator (edge between night and day on the Moon) is Mare Crisium, or the Sea of Crises.
Real-time video taken from northern Vulcan County with an iPhone 11Pro through the eyepiece of an 8-inch-diameter Newtonian telescope mounted on a fixed mount. The left-to-right movement of the Moon in this video represents the rotation of the Earth.
