So, Mr. Advisor, you've talked to me a lot about stocks and a little bit about bonds. But what other types of investments are there?

Well, don't we spread our wings and seek new adventures?

Ughh, I hope there aren't too many adventures.

What you're asking about is called alternative investments, and they're all those other things that aren't stocks, bonds, or cash. Many of them are little known and can be quite risky.

I live for danger! Tell me more!

Hmmm… no, you don’t. So, one major alternative investment is private equity. This is pooled investment in private companies and can include venture capital, growth capital, and buyouts. The best way to get into it is through private equity funds where you can buy shares. Another alternative investment is peer-to-peer lending. This is investor-to-investor lending that is directly linked to borrowers, bypassing banks. You can do this through companies like Prosper, UpStart, and Lending Club.

Wow! I had no idea these investments existed!

Check it out, then come back and I'll give you a few more. And of course, learn more about finance and investing by subscribing to my channel, the Keystone Financial Academy on YouTube!
