Dr. Michael Werner was a project scientist for NASA's Spitzer Space Telescope. The Spitzer Telescope was a very successful space telescope operated by the Jet Propulsion Laboratory here in Pasadena. This is the fourth and final addition to NASA's Grand Observatory program, providing astronomers with the opportunity to study the universe in this critical part of the electromagnetic spectrum of light with unprecedented clarity and sensitivity. It paved the way for the James Webb Space Telescope, a much larger and more powerful infrared telescope.
