Dianne and Guillermo Rastelli retired at ages 45 and 48 with $2.2 million and plans to travel in search of their forever home. The Rastellis are members of the FIRE – or “Financially Independent, Retire Early” – movement. Dianne knew she had always wanted to retire before age 50 and live in Colorado, but Guillermo, being Bolivian-American, told Dianne that he was culturally raised with the idea that he had to work that long and as hard as possible to provide for his family. After a thoughtful presentation prepared by Dianne, Guillermo was convinced and even went beyond his idea by suggesting that they live in different countries around the world. They currently live in Lisbon, Portugal and blog to document their life and financial journey.
