New SEAT vehicles, such as the Ateca and Tarraco, are now equipped with numerous driver assistance systems and the Park Assist function is one of them!

Using this system can be a daunting experience, especially for the first time. That's why Senior Sales Manager Peter shows exactly how it works and what you should or shouldn't do.

Park Assist can be activated by the driver via a switch on the center console. By activating the flashing lever, it decides which side the stopped traffic should be scanned on. While driving (up to a speed of 40 km/h and a lateral distance of 0.5 to 1.5 meters), the sensor mechanism detects parking spaces large enough to park the car safely. These must be at least 1.1 meters longer than the total length of the car. Once a parking space has been detected, a message appears on the multifunction screen. Subsequently, the instruction is given to enter the starting position; this is necessary for the parking procedure.

Automatic steering control is activated by engaging reverse gear. The driver can take their hands off the steering wheel and simply accelerate and brake gently, allowing them to be assisted acoustically by the ultrasonic parking aid. The car parks automatically in reverse, perfectly aligned. In addition, other necessary parking maneuvers depend on the size of the parking space and are communicated to the driver via the display.

The driver can of course intervene at any time in the automatic parking process. The system automatically parks both in parallel parking and in parking spaces. Parking from parallel parking spaces is also possible.
