WHICH ARM SHOULD YOU TAKE YOUR BLOOD PRESSURE:
Measure your blood pressure in both arms when you start. They will give slightly different readings. From there, use the arm that gave you the highest reading each time.

Always use the same arm. If possible, use the arm that your doctor or nurse uses when measuring your blood pressure.

HOW TO TAKE YOUR BLOOD PRESSURE:
Step 1: Remember the 30 minutes – It's very simple: don't measure your blood pressure within 30 minutes of a meal, cigarette, caffeinated beverage, or physical activity. All of these can temporarily raise your blood pressure and we don't want that.

Step 2: Sit and relax for 5 minutes – Sit and relax for 5 minutes, sit at a table and support your back with your arms firmly on the table and your feet flat on the floor .

Don't cross your legs and if you have to go to the toilet, go ahead because all this can increase our blood pressure.

Step 3: Place the cuff 2 fingers above the elbow – Stretch your arm with your palm facing up, the cuff should be placed 2 fingers above your elbow and firm enough that you can simply insert the cuff tip of 2 fingers.

Step 4: Cuff Position – Some cuffs have a small dot or strip that you line up with the middle finger, others require the tube to go down the middle finger. This allows the machine to detect vibrations and calculate blood pressure. It is therefore essential that this is carried out according to the instructions. Always read the blood pressure monitor instructions!

Step 5: Final Checks – Click Start to remind you when it's working, no moving, chewing, talking or laughing all affect the readings.

Step 6: Take TWO Readings – Once you get your first reading, you will wait a minute and repeat it again. Pro Tip: If your first reading is much higher than the next, ignore it and take an additional reading.

Step 7: Monitor your blood pressure and lifestyle – probably the most important part of this video because I see so many patients who don't know what their blood pressure readings mean or don't know how to analyze and analyze them. examine.
