If we got rid of it, it would go much faster! It's much better ! In this episode of DIY in 5, we will teach you how to clean up disk space in Windows 10 and speed up this machine. Before you get started, don't forget to subscribe to see more tips to speed up your system!

If your disk is almost full, one of the cheapest and easiest ways to recover performance is to free up some space! The quickest way to do this is to empty the Trash!? What are you saying ? Have you already deleted many large files but your disk is still full? Well, your PC didn't actually delete them, it just moved them to the Trash. To give them the final push, right-click on your trash and click “empty trash.”

What if you want to keep lots of movies, photos and other files? Don't delete them, just move them! For those of you who already have a second hard drive, it's really simple. But what happens if you don't? There are many options for storing files. You can use this or this or even this thing. And of course, you can't forget about cloud storage.

If you've emptied the Trash and moved some of the files you want to keep but still need more space, what should you do? Windows 10 has a handy feature called “Disk Cleanup.” From the Start menu, go to All Apps / Windows Administrative Tools / Disk Cleanup. Here you can browse and check the file types you want to delete. Your system keeps many temporary files, error logs, thumbnails, etc. which can be quickly deleted. Keep an eye out for “Windows ESD” files, as they are used to reset your system if you ever get into a jam. Disk Cleanup can free up gigabytes of data quite quickly depending on how often you clean your system.

The last tip we'll mention is the Hibernate feature in Windows 10. It's enabled by default and allows your PC to turn on quickly after shutting down or going to sleep. Hibernate takes a snapshot of your drivers and system files and saves it. on your hard drive. This file can be quite large, it allocates up to 75% of your system RAM size for this file. So if you have 8 GB of RAM installed, your hibernate file can be as large as 6 GB. If you really want some extra space, this is a good option.
