How to Optimize Performance Using Virtual Memory in Windows 11

Virtual memory is a component of most operating systems, such as MAC OS, Windows, and Linux. Virtual memory plays a very important role in the operating system. It allows us to run more applications on the system than the physical memory can support. Virtual memory is a simulated memory that is written to a file on the hard drive. This file is often called a swap file or page file. It is used by operating systems to simulate physical RAM by using the hard drive space. To understand how virtual memory works, we need to go back in time, before virtual memory even existed. Back in the days of Windows version 1 and 2, we could not run many applications if we did not have enough physical RAM installed. As we know, the system itself uses a portion of RAM. If we run more applications, each application will also have its own portion of RAM. If we run too many applications, at some point, we will run out of RAM. At that point, we won't be able to open any additional applications. Back then, we had to live with this. If we didn't have enough memory, we couldn't run applications.

This tutorial will apply to computers, laptops, desktops, and tablets running Windows 11 and Windows 10 (Home, Pro, Enterprise, Education) operating systems from all supported hardware manufacturers, such as Dell, HP, Acer, Asus, Toshiba, Lenovo, and Samsung).
