Last week I went to a conference called ClamourCon and saw something that really surprised me. It wasn’t something, it was someone. This person, a self-proclaimed introvert, was one of the most well-connected people I know, with connections ranging from Hollywood to the venture capital world to the personal development world. Once I found out this about him, I started asking him how it all happened and that’s what I want to share with you today.
By the way, his name is Evan Carmichael, he is a YouTuber who creates inspiring content for entrepreneurs. I will put a link to his channel in the description. So here is what I saw from him.
First, redefine what constitutes a networking event. Most events with the word “networking” in the title are a complete waste of time. They attract people who are looking to build a network rather than a relationship. And this is especially bad if you’re an introvert, because you’ll be competing with a bunch of other people eager to share their stories and what they’re working on.
