Cosmologist Cynthia Chiang builds telescopes and takes them to some of the most remote (and rugged) places on Earth, searching for radio-quiet places where she can detect whispers of the very early cosmos. His experiments use faint signals from hydrogen atoms to reveal what the universe looked like when the first stars were born and to study the era of cosmic darkness before that first dawn.
