Step 1 – Launch the Kindle version first. Sign up for KDP, click to join “Kindle Unlimited” to get maximum royalty percentage and access to marketing campaigns, download the “made for you” templates to instantly make your book look great, and get your book on Amazon as a digital Kindle book first. This way, it will be easy to link your new audiobook version to the already published Kindle version and the audiobook will be offered on the same Amazon page as your paperback and Kindle versions, giving your customers a choice, or they will be able to buy all three! Step 2 – THINK ABOUT AUDIO. Many authors don't do this and wonder why they aren't getting good feedback. Carefully go through your existing book and edit the content so that it makes sense in audio format only. Setting up a studio for recording audiobooks at home doesn't have to cost a fortune: the key to professional results lies in the techniques used.
Step 5 – Verify that the exported files are correct in all technical areas of levels, silence gaps, file type and data rate, otherwise they will be rejected. Most audio software will give you all the technical options you need, you just need to select the right settings and export. Then upload to ACX with your optimal keywords, sales description and cover art. Choose the audio sample very carefully to intrigue potential buyers and fiction writers, don't reveal any plot spoilers in the sample! Now your audiobook is on sale worldwide!
