For what?
Because each song generates a royalty when it is played.

Think of it like a cake.
Half the pie, half the writers goes to you, the writer
The other half, the publisher's share, goes to… you guessed it, the publisher AND the writer.

So if you're only registered with a PRO as a writer, then you're missing out on half the pie.
But if YOU became a publisher, you would get both halves.
You could literally have the cake and eat it.
