A free proton has a fixed mass, volume and density at rest. The same goes for neutrons. But when these bond to form deuterium, they overlap and the particles lose their overlapping volume and mass, but the density remains unchanged. This creates a ground fault. The mass defect transforms into a form of ultrafine matter and explodes. This projects deuterium at high speed and produces thermal energy when it reaches the surrounding matter.
