Honda's Home Energy Management System (HEMS) monitors, controls and optimizes electricity production and consumption throughout the Honda Smart Home microgrid. A 10 kWh battery energy storage system in the garage, using the same lithium-ion cells used in the Honda Fit EV, allows stored solar energy to be used at night, when household demand reaches generally its maximum and that electric vehicles are generally charged.
