TBH stands for "to be honest", and the tbh app is a social networking platform where users anonymously answer questions/surveys about their classmates.

What are parents saying about the TBH app?
/"Should an app be able to demand full access to a child's contacts and locations like this app? Do not exploit children's desire by extracting such personal information. Your app goes too far into the lives of very unconscious young children who just want to connect with their friends./" –WidMark1

/"Some of the [questions] are extremely inappropriate./" –SeedOak

What is the tbh app?

–TBH means "to be honest", tbh app is a social media platform

–Users answer questions/surveys about their classmates anonymously

–In addition to answering questions, users can submit new questions/polls

–To use the app, users must grant access to their phone's location and contacts.

–tbh uses the phone's GPS to list schools in the area. Next, the user selects the school they attend

–Questions/polls are created by the developer in an effort to prevent the app from becoming insulting or negative.

–When users create a survey, it must first be approved by the developer.

–The questions are multiple choice and a list of the students' friends' names are the available choices
Users earn gems when their name is chosen in a survey

–Gemstones act as trophies and are color coded: pink if a girl chooses you or blue if a boy chooses you

Why should parents care?

–Users cannot use the tbh app unless they allow the app to access their phone's location and contacts.

–There is no verification process on the app, so anyone can sign up and say they attend a school in their area, even if they are an adult.

–Even if questions/surveys are approved by the developers, they can still promote bullying and make it easier for students to become a target.

–Children may encounter inappropriate content if they spend time on the app tbh

–This app encourages users to anonymously criticize classmates, which can lead to unhealthy interactions between students.

–The gem system can become a form of cyberbullying since it is based on peer judgment.
