In an exciting leap into the future, quantum computing researchers at Google have imagined a system that works with a staggering 70 qubits, the quantum world's answer to classical bits.
Despite the current limitations of quantum computers, such as the need for specific conditions and stability issues, their potential is increasing. The team used a synthetic benchmark called random circuit sampling to test the speed of the system and reduce the risk of external noise. The results demonstrated that the quantum computer could perform calculations in seconds, which would take the world's most powerful supercomputer, Frontier, more than 47 years. These experiments also provided a better understanding of quantum noise and its impact on processes.
