Exposure to cold, such as through cold showers, ice baths, or simply spending time in cold environments, has attracted attention due to its potential mental health benefits.

It can improve mood by releasing endorphins and increase alertness and energy levels through stimulation of norepinephrine. Exposure to cold also reduces inflammation, improves overall mental well-being, and helps build stress resilience by training the nervous system to better handle stress. Additionally, it can improve sleep quality, balance hormones such as cortisol and adrenaline, and strengthen immune function, indirectly benefiting mental health.

Practices that require mindfulness, such as cold exposure, can also promote present-centered awareness, helping to manage stress and anxiety. However, it is essential to approach cold exposure gradually and to consult health care providers if there are underlying medical problems.
