Professor Emeritus Ron Baecker will discuss the principles for creating successful ethical technology startups and illustrate the tips with Canadian examples. Ron Baecker is an internationally renowned author, speaker and consultant.
He is Professor Emeritus of Computer Science, Co-Founder and Director Emeritus of the Dynamic Graphics Project, and Founder and Director Emeritus of the Knowledge Media Design Institute (KMDI) and the Technologies for Aging Gracefully Lab (TAGlab) at the University of Toronto. . He was named one of the 60 pioneers of computer graphics, was elected to the CHI (Computers and Human Interaction) Academy, and was named an ACM Fellow and a Canadian pioneer in digital media. He received the CHI Social Impact Award at CHI2020, is the organizer of the Computers-society.org virtual community, and was recently named an ACM Distinguished Lecturer. He is the author of 7 books, most recently Computers and Society: Modern Perspectives (OUP, 2019), The COVID-19 Solutions Guide: Health, Wealth, Technology, and the Human Spirit (2020), and.
