ABOUT THIS COURSE
With the continued daily generation of massive amounts of biomedical data, whether from research laboratories or clinical laboratories, we must improve our ability to understand and analyze data in order to fully leverage its power in scientific discovery and research. patient care. . For non-bioinformaticians, “managing” Big Data remains a daunting task. This course was designed to facilitate the understanding, analysis, and interpretation of biomedical big data for individuals in the biomedical field with limited or no experience in bioinformatics. The objective of this course is to “demystify” the process of biomedical Big Data analysis through a series of lectures and practical online training sessions and demonstrations. You will learn how to use publicly available online resources and tools for the analysis of genomic, transcriptomic, and proteomic data, as well as other online analysis tools and resources. This course is funded by a research grant from the U.S. National Institutes of Health (NIH) Big Data to Knowledge (BD2K) initiative.

WHAT YOU WILL LEARN
Understand how biomedical data is generated and processed
Discover various biomedical big data resources (e.g. TCGA, G-DOC, UNIPROT, etc.)
Explore and analyze genomic, transcriptomic and proteomic data using various online analysis tools
Making Sense of Big Data Using Systems Biology Resources and Tools
Appreciate the value of Big Data in biomedical research and clinical practice (e.g., enabling precision medicine)
